Transformer Efficiency

The performance of such transformers is judged on the basis of energy consumption during the whole day (i.e., 24 hours). This is known as all day efficiency.

TRANSFORMER EFFICIENCY

It is the ratio between the output power and input power.



Condition for Maximum Efficiency

Iron loss = Copper loss (or) Constant loss = Variable loss.

Efficiency of a transformer will be maximum when copper losses are equal to iron losses.

If iron loss and full load copper loss are given then maximum efficiency is given by
